Requirements

macOS 13 or later. The Numpad course needs a keyboard with a numeric keypad.

“These keys come from a different input source”

Tenkey checks each key you press against the layout you chose. When the characters do not match, your Mac is set to another input source. Switch it to the one Tenkey names (ABC or U.S. for US QWERTY, British for UK QWERTY, Greek, Dvorak or Colemak) from the input menu in the menu bar, or add it in System Settings → Keyboard → Text Input.

“Use the numeric keypad.”

The Numpad course teaches the keypad on the right of a full-size keyboard, so the number row above the letters does not count. A MacBook's built-in keyboard has no keypad; a Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad, or any USB keyboard with one, works.

Which keyboard shape is mine?

ANSI keyboards have a wide Return key and a long left Shift; ISO keyboards have a tall Return key and a short left Shift. You can change the shape and the layout at any time in Settings (⌘,).

Where is my history?

In one file on your Mac, and nowhere else:
~/Library/Containers/com.dimnat.tenkey/Data/Library/Application Support/com.dimnat.tenkey/tenkey.db

“Tenkey cannot open your history”

If that file is damaged or cannot be read, Tenkey shows where it is and offers Reset history. A reset deletes nothing: the old file is renamed to tenkey-reset- followed by the date and time, in the same folder, and a new, empty history starts. Write to support if you would like help with the old file.

Starting over

Quit Tenkey, open the folder above (in Finder, Go → Go to Folder…), and move tenkey.db, with any files next to it whose names start with tenkey.db, somewhere else, for example to the Desktop. Tenkey starts a new history the next time it opens.
